Ter gelegenheid van de Internationale Dag tegen Racisme vertonen wij op vrijdag 21 maart de indrukwekkende film Nickel Boys (2024), van regisseur Ramell Ross. Deze gezamenlijke vertoning is onderdeel van een landelijke actie van filmtheaters en filmhuizen, op initiatief van Nationaal Coördinator tegen Discriminatie en Racisme Rabin S. Baldewsingh.
HET VERHAAL
Nickel Boys, geregisseerd en mede geschreven door RaMell Ross, vertelt het verhaal van de krachtige vriendschap tussen twee jonge Afro-Amerikaanse mannen die samen de gruwelijke beproevingen van een reformatorische school in Florida doorstaan.
Gebaseerd op de Pulitzer Prize-winnende roman van Colson Whitehead, en genomineerd voor een Oscar voor Beste Film. In Nederland is het boek uitgegeven als De Jongens van Nickel.
