The Sovereigns

In the gritty streets of Amsterdam, 20-year-old Rajbir, a defiant orphan, clashes with a local thug, dragging his friends Amar and Dilawar into the criminal underworld. After rescuing a girl from a lover boy, they flee to the UK with Rajbir’s younger brother, Jind, seeking refuge with Mamma Ji-an, an estranged uncle whose taxi company fronts a secret vigilante group: the Sovereigns. Drawn into their covert missions, Rajbir battles London’s criminal elite. But when Jind is kidnapped and enemies from Amsterdam resurface, Rajbir and his crew must fight through the shadows of the underworld.

Rajbir Singh Sovereign is a filmmaker, poet, and storyteller from Amsterdam, and the first Punjabi filmmaker to emerge from the city. Known for his raw visuals and unapologetic storytelling, he blends street culture with Sikh identity to create powerful narratives. As the director of The Sovereigns, he shines a light on themes like brotherhood, rebellion, and cultural pride. With deep roots in poetry and social media storytelling, Rajbir uses his voice to represent the unheard and redefine what it means to be both Panjabi and Dutch.
